In 2009, Becca started volunteering at the Central California SPCA in Fresno. On her first day, she took Bolt (then: Unnamed White Corgi Mix) for a walk, and promptly decided he and his social anxieties would be coming home with her. While it was a shock to her parents, Bolt quickly became the apple of their eye.

The Central California SPCA (CCSPCA), founded in 1895 and located in Fresno County, California, is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit humane society.
